Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice: Secret Message Card

Sorry for the delay everyone.. My night ended up being really busy and I wasnt able to post right away. Anyways, here are pictures.. a bit of a step by step to show you how I achieved my Secret Message Card. Hope you enjoy this and attempt it on your own. Please leave me a comment if you have any advise or comments.

For this project, I choose a piece of 12X12 two sided cardstock from the K&Company line. I love this paper, its durable and strong cardstock and is great for all types of projects. (You can also use a one solid colour cardstock for this project, either way, the card turns out looking really good.)

Step 1: I cut a piece of two sided cardstock paper mesuring 4 1/4'' by 11''. Since I was using a 12X12 sheet of paper, I always end up making two cards at once (one card to keep, one card to give away).

Step 2: I scored the cardstock at 2 3/4'', 5 1/2'' and 8 1/4''

Step 3: Cut the two center panels into 4 equal parts. (Sorry I forget the exact mesurements for this one).

Your end product after making the 3 cuts into 4 equal part should look something like the above picture.

Step 4: The next step is to cut two equal pieces of cardstock mesuring either 2 1/4'' - 4 1/4'' OR 2 3/4 - 4 1/4. *Please note I made a mistake on the picture, both papers mesure 4 1/4 NOT 4 1/2, my bad!

Here you have the option to either use the mesurement that fits the cut out space perfectly (example the brown cardstock) or go for a looser fit and a different look (turquoise cardstock). Either one work. I personally prefer the more snug option, holds the paper in place better. Altho.. you could always glue your cardstock down if you choose the looser fit.

Step 5: This is also the part where you get to be creative! Take out your fun stamps and your funky markers because in this step you get to decorate the inside of the card. What is suggested is that for example in the picture above, where the brown cardstock is located you would add nice stamps and messages. For example for a birthday card, you could write Nadine, Happy 26th Birthday! (One word per brown space)

Also, on the two outside panels, you could add nice pictures example: ballons, a cake, anything festive really.

Step 6: Now here is the fun part!! This is where your card hides its "SECRET MESSAGE!!" So now what you would do is take the two middle pannels and fold them back. By doing so, it allowes you to get to the tabs to open the card to reveal the secret message.

By pulling the two parts apart, it reveals a secret hidden area where you can write a "secret" message. Be creative and have fun with your secret message.

Step 7: Decorating the front of your card. There are SO many different ways to decorate and have fun with it! Here are two options I cam up with on a whim. In the picture below, I cut two pieces of brown cardstock, glued them down and then I cut a piece of the two sided cardstock and glued it down only on one of the side panels allowing the card to open. I stoped there, but later on, I do plan on adding a really nice message on the cover with lots of embelishments. (Just need to find someone to send it to in order to personalise it to them).

The picture below is the card once its opened. I really love two sided cardstock.

The picture below is another example I made. All I did was add a piece of brown cardstock, glued it once again only on one half of the card in order to still be able to open the card.

Below is an example of the inside of the card. I do plan on adding something colourfull to the cover of the card as well as the inside pannels inside the card.
